This piece explores the relationship between work, life, and art. More specifically the artistic process. It is a cycle of Love that takes extreme amounts of emotional, spiritual, and physical labor. As an artist I never have felt a want to paint, it has always felt like a calling or obligation right to my soul. Growing up I would see my Dad work until he could no longer stand, and I always wondered why he was incapable of doing something other than work, I only know I realize he was doing what he loved. The earth is his canvas, the equipment is his brushes. Working for 3 days straight with no sleep, compelled to correct, refine and finish. I hope one day my daughter can see what I see in my Dad and know that if you love something you have to work at it. Relationships, work, or art, needs to be nurtured with every ounce of strength we have. The balance will follow when you have realized what you love.
