"Obligation of Love/Labor"

$90.00

16x20 printed on Fine Etch Rag Fine Art, Acid-Free Archival Paper

This piece explores the relationship between work, life and art. More specifically the artistic process. It is a cycle of Love that takes extreme amounts of emotional, spiritual and physical labor. As an artist I never have felt a want to paint, it has always felt a calling or obligation right to my soul. Growing up I would see my Dad work until he could no longer stand, and I always wondered why he was not capable of doing something other than work, I only know realize he was doing what he loved. The earth is his canvas, the equipment are his brushes. Working for 3 days straight with no sleep, compelled to correct, refine and finish. I hope one day my daughter can see what I see in my Dad and know that if you love something you have to work at it. Relationships, work, or art, it needs to be nurtured with every ounce of strength we have. Balance will follow when you have realized what we love.
